Steven D. Hazelwood

ATTORNEY & COUNSELOR OF LAW

Steven is a Mobile, Alabama native and grew up in a working-class family with a paper mill worker father and a registered nurse mother. Unlike many lawyers, Steven started his career as a Boatswain in the United States Navy, where he crewed an AOE-4 in the Mediterranean Sea as part of the Atlantic Fleet. After his honorable discharge, Steven worked in the title insurance industry while studying for his Applied Science Degree in Computer Networking from Faulkner Community College. He then worked at AT&T Corp. as a consultant for businesses, where he received advanced training in business processes and the use of technology to drive business.

In 1995, Steven was licensed to sell real estate and began a 25-year career in real estate consulting and sales. While working as an Associate Real Estate Broker in South Alabama, he attended the University of South Alabama to receive a Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Science, Business, and Political Science. Steven then pursued his Juris Doctorate degree at Faulkner University’s Jones School of Law in Montgomery, AL.

With a strong focus on commercial and residential real estate, business consulting, and real estate development, Steven brought a business consulting approach to his services. After receiving his Juris Doctorate and admission to the Alabama Bar, he expanded his professional services to include Real Estate Escrow & Title Services, Civil Litigation, Real Estate Law, Probate/Wills/Estates/Trusts, Contract Law, Complex Litigation, Personal Injury, Risk Assessment, Domestic Law, and Business Consulting in Real Estate Acquisition, Commercial Leasing & Development.

Steven’s focus is on providing excellent service, integrity, and advocacy for his clients’ personal and business needs. Outside of the office, Steven created the Eastern Shore Adult Soccer program in Fairhope in 2005, which has since become Daphne’s Eastern Shore Co-Ed Soccer program. He remains the program administrator, a team manager, and a player. From 2003 to 2014, he coached and served as the standing league vice president for the Fairhope Recreational Soccer League. Steven also co-founded the Baldwin County Cup, a county-wide recreational soccer tournament that had a floating field host to allow the communities of Baldwin County to collaborate for youth soccer. While in law school, Steven volunteered with Alabama At-Risk Youth (Prevention Sub-committee) to help children and adolescents who are at risk of entering the juvenile justice system.
